Terms and conditions
Last updated 25 October 2026
These terms cover two things: using this website, and our service of building, hosting and editing websites for businesses. "We", "us" and "our" means Brand West, Gloucester Road, Bristol (info@brandwest.co.uk). "You" means the person or business using this website or our service.
1. Using this website
You may use this website to find out about our service and to contact us. Please don't try to break it, overload it, or get into parts of it that aren't meant for you. We try to keep the information here accurate, but it's a general description of the service, not an offer. What we'll do for you, and the price, is set out in your written quote.
2. Quotes and agreeing to work with us
Sending an enquiry doesn't commit you to anything. If you'd like to go ahead, we'll send a written quote with the price, what's included and how payment works. Our agreement starts when you accept that quote in writing (an email is fine). If the quote says something different from these terms, the quote wins.
3. What we provide
- We design and build your website, based on the information and materials you give us.
- We host your website and look after the technical side, such as security updates and the hosting setup.
- We give you a private sign-in where you can change your website by typing requests in plain English and uploading photos.
- Anything else, such as new pages, booking systems or online payments, is extra work that we'll quote for separately.
4. How the editor works, and your part in it
Change requests are carried out by an AI model (Claude, made by Anthropic). The changes go live straight away. The AI is instructed to change only what you ask for, but it can make mistakes, so please check your website after each change. The "Undo last change" button puts back the version before your last change. If something goes wrong that you can't fix, contact us and we'll help.
You are responsible for what you ask to be published on your website. In particular, you agree that:
- what you publish is accurate and not misleading, including prices, reviews and qualifications;
- you own, or have permission to use, any photos and text you upload, and you have the consent of anyone who can be identified in a photo;
- you won't use the editor to publish anything unlawful, defamatory, hateful or harmful, or that infringes someone else's rights;
- you'll keep your password private and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
To keep the service fair and secure, the editor has limits, such as how many changes can be made per minute and the size and type of photos. We may also refuse or remove content that breaks these terms, and suspend editing access if the editor is being misused.
5. Who owns what
You own your content: your business name and logo, your words and the photos you supply. You give us permission to use it to build, host and run your website. We own the design system, code and editor that we use to provide the service, and you may use them for your website for as long as you're a customer. We may show your website in our portfolio unless you ask us not to.
6. Availability
We aim to keep your website and the editor running all the time, but we can't promise they will never be interrupted, for example during maintenance or if one of our suppliers has a problem. We'll fix problems as quickly as we reasonably can.
7. Payment
You'll pay the amounts and at the times set out in your quote. If a payment is more than 30 days late, we may suspend the service after giving you notice.
8. Ending the service
You can end the service at any time by giving the notice set out in your quote. When the service ends, we'll give you a copy of your website's text and photos if you ask for it within 30 days. After that we'll delete your website content. We can end the service by giving you 30 days' notice, or straight away if you seriously break these terms.
9. Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law doesn't allow us to limit. Apart from that, we're not liable for loss of profits, business, revenue or data, or for indirect losses, and our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period. We're not responsible for content you publish through the editor.
If you're dealing with us as a consumer rather than a business, you also have legal rights that these terms don't affect.
10. Personal information
Our privacy policy explains how we use personal information.
11. Changes and the law
We may update these terms. If a change affects existing customers, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
